Getting ahead of your thinking means getting ahead of your results.

We are often unintentional about envisioning our own lives. We may be good at planning in professional situations, but rarely do we ever get intentional about our own lives. Unintentional thinking yields unintentional results. Without much of a plan, it’s as if life “appears” on accident, rather than on purpose. You get what your subconscious mind dishes up if you don’t get ahead of it. But wouldn’t you rather consciously create what you want, as opposed to unconsciously creating what you don’t want? Well, you have to put in your order, so to speak.

If you’re unfocused, your life wont yield desired results. Your visions will be blurry, peppered in confusion, chaos and doubt. When circumstances arise out of worrisome emotions, mental chaos, and confusion, the results are usually no good. But being a good architect of your life means that you become intentionally detailed about what you want, including what kind of person you want to be, and what sorts of emotions you want to have! The mind will drift and doubt, but get right back on it and refocus. Use your mind as a creative tool and on purpose!

Your desired life needs your focus and your intentional design skills. Design what kind of person you want to be. Perhaps you’d like to be a humble, funny, magnanimous, or forgiving person. If so, then design it in your mind. Put in some good human qualities in your plan and envision how that kind of person acts, talks, and thinks. Be focused and intentional, and get ahead of your random thinking and fickle emotions. Remember that what you focus on grows, so focus your mind on what you want, not what you don’t want, or what you worry about all the time. Redesign your life from the ground up by paying closer attention to how you think. Stay focused on what you want to see, and soon enough, reality will catch up.
