Love’s appetite – be careful not to spoil it.

Love has an appetite. An appetite is a strong desire to satisfy a need. But it can be spoiled, if you become obsessed with being in love. A needy person, one who becomes addicted to love and affection, will ruin the appetite of love itself. It’s important to think what might make you desirable, in the eyes of a partner. In other words, wouldn’t you want to be more appetizing? The strength of your attractiveness is not in your so-called need for love, but in the strength of the love that you hold for yourself.

Love’s appetite is not strengthened by your feelings of lack; by your neediness for attention; or by your feelings of loneliness. Those things do the opposite to love’s desire – they spoil the appetite. An appetizing meal is one that is colorful, rich, vivacious, and fragrant. It’s full of nutrients, color, and is prepared with great care. If it’s appetizing, it’s appealing. If you are an object of someone’s affection, it’s important to be more appetizing, for lack of a better word. It’s vital to come from a position of strength, security, and peacefulness. It’s your self-love that is attractive to others, not your self-loathing.

Your inner strength, your authentic self, and your autonomous happiness are what whets love’s desire from another. When we search for love, we’re likely looking for someone of strength, good humor, a good attitude, attentiveness, self-security, generosity, and so on. In many ways you have to become the love that you wish receive from others. You whet the appetite for love when you claim your own security, your own strength, and your own stability. Insecurity, neediness, and petulance might get you attention, but those characteristics will ruin love’s appetite for a strong, lasting bond with another. Become more attractive and desirable by embodying stronger, more secure, and appealing characteristics.
