The most powerful force on the planet is your ability to chose. When you’re faced with a decision, discipline yourself to think of just one more choice. Then think of another! Choose what makes you feel like your time is being used well, choose what emotions you want, and choose actions that are healthy and productive. Thinking that you’ll never amount to much, limits your choice. Thinking that you’re no good, limits your ability to discover and to develop a talent. When you feel your life lacks options, it’s because you’re living on autopilot. Limited choice is a life of routine, not a life of intention. Intention is living a life on purpose.
You can choose to create new actions. Strive for something new. Look for it. You no longer have to just go through the same, predictable motions. You can intentionally choose new emotions, and new actions. But this requires some forethought. This requires asking. “What would I like to do?” “What would I enjoy thinking about?” “What activity do I enjoy doing?” “What emotions would I enjoy possessing, right now?” New, and better choices come to people who ask for them. Good choices are like good ideas – they’ll come if you open yourself up to them. When new choices do come, take swift action on them.
If you choose to feel better emotions, on purpose, you’ll discover more creative and stimulating options for how to use your mind, how to use your time, and how to develop your talents. Habit sticks with what’s familiar. Living on purpose sticks to what’s unfamiliar and not being afraid to do the action that comes with the choice. New choice requires you to open your mind, your eyes, and your ears to new actions. Ask for more choices, and you’ll begin to see them appear. The choice will come, usually fairly easily, but the action is your responsibility. Get creative and exercise your power of choice. Life doesn’t have to be familiar and routine. You can choose something new. You are not as limited as you think you are.
