We work terribly hard to build up a sense of “protection,” so-called insurance against challenge, but is that really possible? Challenge will find its way to you no matter what. Why? So you can rely on one thing – yourself! We build nest eggs, we stockpile weapons, oil, and gold as if it will ultimately protect us from annihilation. We get into co-dependent relationships for some sort of security, even if the relationship is awful. We stay in jobs because they abound in comfort, and offer no fulfillment whatsoever. Safeguards are not in creature comforts, they are in pushing yourself towards self-assurance, your only true measure of protection!
Insurance, although on one level is practical, isn’t protection. A savings account isn’t protection. Nothing externally or anything like that. Ask former Enron employees or Bernie Madoff investors – no amount of money keeps you safe. That false sense of security will lull you into fear if you’re not careful.
Don’t put your faith in your extra treasures on earth – your insurance policies, your investments, your job, your partner, those things are never secure. Build up your inner security, the strong assurance of self-confidence that is often hidden from you. Develop an inward faith in yourself, see your infallible ability to adapt, to grow, to become inventive in your hour of need. That’s assurance, an inner insurance that you can do all things, endure all things, and create all things! Put your faith in the true source of all life itself. You are an expression of total omniscience, total power, and the oneness that controls it all! Rest assured in your inseparability from the divine flow of ideas, inventiveness, and the supremacy of the universe moving, breathing, and expressing itself in you, through you, and as you. All that you need is here and now, and it will be forever.
