Drop the charges. You’re free to go.

It’s often said that life is a struggle. But doesn’t it take two to tango? When there is a “should be” in life, you defend or you prosecute your thoughts, your actions, or your situations, depending upon which side of the case you stand. You set up this whole courtroom drama, an insidious and duplicitous role play of judge, prosecutor, defense attorney, and jury. Can you see the insanity?

I suppose most of us lean towards the guilty side, living that way on a daily basis. If life is a trial, which is part of our common belief, then there is a winner and a loser or a protagonist and an antagonist. But what is the source of all of that hide-and-seek? The conditioned mind. If we “should” ourselves, then the prosecutor has the floor and is trying to prove guilt for what you’ve done or for what you’ve neglected to do. If we “should” our circumstances, then the defense attorney has to prove that you are a victim of a cruel fate, and that you are an innocent bystander whose choices have been misinterpreted by mean people.

This protagonist/antagonist mentality is sneaky. It’s creating an inner tension called insanity. The circumstance is not right/wrong; nor are you right/wrong. Everything just is. Leave the courtroom in your head and step out into the world, without bias. Engage with what you’re doing, make peace with who you are, and accept what is. Change what you can, but defending your actions or charging yourself with a crime ain’t a-workin’. Love who you are, where you are, and what you’re doing. Drop the charges and dismiss the case. You’re free to live how you wish. Leave the dramatic courtroom scenarios to television writers. Your sanity is at stake.
