Is life difficult? Yes, but it’s working in your favor.

A subjective view – that’s easy. An objective one, that’s hard. The brain seems to automatically produce negative interpretations of everything! The hard part of life is seeing beyond that bias, and letting experience show you the way towards ease and unconditionally accepting those things you cannot change.

Normally what troubles people is how they view themselves and how they interpret their situations. But here’s the kicker – life does not allow you to sit and to be idle either. You have to engage with it and accept what’s unchangeable. So much of who you are is unchangeable, and much of it is. The hard part is figuring that all out.

Inaction cannot teach you. Overreaction cannot teach you. Avoidance cannot teach you. The key is to be willing to learn, to reconstruct, or to reinterpret if necessary. Oversimplifying, over-interpreting, and taking things too seriously – that never works. Sitting on the sidelines also doesn’t work. All roads seem to lead to difficulty, so it seems like you can’t win, right? That’s not the point of your life – winning, per se. The point is to move with your life and to say “yes” to everything that you cannot control, and “no” to those things that are not working and within your control. Remember that where you are is what you need. Who you are is what you need. Rather than trying to pick that apart, trying to change it, stop it or reverse it, why not let it show you the way? Life can be hard, but only when you’re blind to what you’re doing to make it that way. Your circumstances are pointing you towards accepting what’s not changeable, and towards recognizing how you can rework what is.
