Many children, who have severe attention deficit disorders, have experienced some horrific, often sexual or physically abusive trauma. Often the unconscionable environment in which they were raised causes tremendous fear and stress that’s carried into adulthood. Studies show that creativity and focus cannot flourish when people don’t feel safe, being hyper-vigilant, and always on the lookout for danger. This fear is also prevalent in those who experience financial hardship. It’s hard for them to think and focus, or be at peace because they fear some financial shortage for basic needs.
Trauma, abuse, or abandonment teaches children to live fearfully. Fear makes people lash out and behave poorly. Paranoia, obesity, addiction, fear, distrust, and inability to be at peace could be a result of negative environments from which people come.
If you had a relatively normal childhood, be grateful. If bad things happened to you as a child, I am truly sorry. I hope that you will be the one who can break the cycle of fear. Children are exposed to stressful situations in real life and online, everyday – the likes of which many of us can’t imagine. The next time you’re put out with how someone behaves, perhaps you can remember that past trauma even effects the judgement of adults. No-one acts out because they were born hateful. I don’t think we come into the world that way. Negative circumstances can have a detrimental effect on humans, and it’s time to acknowledge this, rather than pointing fingers. Respond as compassionately as possible – too many people are angry and afraid. We just don’t know what’s going on inside of them, and how their negative behavior might be a result of a terrible past. There’s never an excuse for people being cruel, but it’s time to look at the larger problem.
