What’s mine is mine and what’s yours is yours, right? Well… maybe not exactly. I used to think that everybody was meant to have their own stuff, and to keep to themselves. As I’ve matured, I realized that life is not meant to be insular like that, with clear divisions that marginalize others. Life is meant to share, not to hoard, not to demarcate, not to exclude. How do I know that? The universe does not separate, hoard, and keep everything to itself in ways humans do. The universe shares creation abundantly.
Just about everything we do, comes with an inherent need to share. Why else do people long for relationships, post things on social media, give to charity, write books, give gifts, or host parties? Doing those things unlocks a deep need to share, but we are not always cognizant of that. Too often what we confuse sharing for personal gain. When the need to share is usurped by the ego’s selfishness, things take a turn for the worst. But true sharing comes from a deeper, inherent desire to give back. Real sharing originates out of gratitude, not from a place that says “look at how great I am!” I am always skeptical of social media posts, whose main objective is for the number of “likes” one gets. Be wary of a false sense of “sharing.” A real desire to share, need not to be recognized by anyone, except those who will benefit from your benevolence.
The universe will prompt you to share when you are grateful for what you have – that’s the nature of the world we live in. If you live a life of a hermit, hoarding all you can get, and live only for yourself, you’ll never understand the joys of living the way we’re meant to. If misery loves company, then company LOVES sharing, so take it a step further. Share what you have, today! If you don’t have it, create it. Yes, create it. Create time, and share it. Create something funny, and share it. Create willingness, and share it. Create a message of hope and share it. Create a smile, a kind word, a message of love – and click “share.” You have something to share today. Take your turn and don’t worry about being recognized for it. The joy of sharing itself, will be more than enough.
