Words are so limiting. I guess for writers, that’s a good thing. We continually try to translate the world into words, but it can’t ever be fully captured, so we keep writing! Words are symbols. They are an attempt to represent experience, but they fall short. For practical purposes they work, but there is simply too much to describe at any, one point in time. Take a sunset, for example. Its vast beauty and complexity can only be beheld in real time. No matter how hard you try to describe it, it’ll never compare to the real thing.
Experience itself, like the divine vista of a sunset on the beach, is only fully absorbable in the present moment. It’s only in present reality that we get the full contents of sensation. If you try to capture it in words, or with a photo, the fullness evades you. Yet everyone is talking up a storm and taking photos of everything!
Words and pictures don’t cut it. Reality, the essence of the present moment, contains so much, we’re missing it all. We don’t really soak in the rich dynamism of now. We create noise, or clamor over photos, but we never just take it all in. We never fully receive the gift of slowly absorbing right now. No matter how simple your activity might seem, appreciate the multidimensional complexity of it. Even as you read this blog, just absorb the meaning and experience of now! You could write for a lifetime and never fully capture the magic in that one, particular moment. Don’t take for granted, this multidimensional experience we call life, happening right this very moment. Luxuriate and deepen what you sense, but no need for a photo or commentary. The moment is an indescribable gift of richness! Soak it in.
