Thinking of what you can imagine as the “worst,” serves no purpose but to scare you. In your own life, how often does the worst that you can imagine ever really manifest itself? What good comes out of such conjecture? There is nothing good that comes out of imagining doomsday. What about imagining the “best?” It feels better to imagine the best, even though you can’t really know what the best is. Its boundary is unknown. The best of humanity is a mystery that we need to discover. But the worst, why would you ever want to uncover any of that?
Expecting the best in life makes you ingratiating. It makes you different and attractive. When your inner light shines brightly, you’ll begin to notice how negatively others speak, especially of themselves. Give a compliment, and you’ll get a self-deprecating response, “Oh it’s nothing.” Very few of us gracefully digest compliments, we twist them around, brush them off, or disbelieve in the credibility of the complimenter. That’s taking the hope that someone has for you and stomping on it. People twist all hope (the grace of positivity) into the worst-case, simply because they disbelieve in their own power to change the world.
It is time to scrutinize every word, every thought, and every action that leads to despair. It’s time to unplug, go within, and to see the joy and beauty of our planet through present-moment experience, not just in negative concepts. We can’t really understand the boundaries of heaven, what is the “best” scenario, no more than we can understand the bottom, the pit of despair, the “worst” of hell itself. The only thing that is truly within your power is to flip the inner switch, to brighten your words, to lighten your countenance, and to cast a brighter light on yourself, on others, and most importantly on the future. What do you have to lose in searching for humanity’s best offering to the world? – everything that really matters to make the world better, that’s what!
