Everything serves a simple purpose. You serve a simple purpose, but it’s not as earth-shattering as you might think. Science, for example, is dedicated to figuring out what everything is for, but we still haven’t figured out everything! We still don’t know what your tonsils are for, but we keep pressing on. But our search for purpose doesn’t have to be that complex. Today is simply an opportunity to learn the joy of simplicity.
Most of us are too busy trying to get to the bigger, more glamorous moments in life. But these big moments aren’t all they’re cracked up to be, and they’re far and few between. Yes they’re great when they occur, but 99% of your time on earth will be spent in another, “ordinary” day. How you make use of these kinds of days will really matter as you age.
It’s the small things that make this day purposeful. It’s not to get to the next day, to get to the monumental moments, like the next vacation or to the weekend. The purpose of today is to fully realize the simplicity of being you, and to enjoy that, even in the tiniest moments. No moment is wasted. Don’t wait to be a ripe, old age before you realize this. Don’t push through today, nor resist it, but focus into it, relax, and just enjoy being you. Realize how precious you are, and cherish the simplicity of simply being alive. From there, you’ll become more expressive, more relaxed and alert, and people will wonder why you’re so happy on an “ordinary” Wednesday. Realizing the simplicity of living, the beauty of cherishing this moment will be your source of joy. Don’t keep it a secret, just live out your purpose of simplicity, and make each day a simple means of expressing your inner joy.
