The Joy of self-care is one that needs to be nurtured.

There is great joy and satisfaction in self-care. Self-care is about prioritizing all aspects of your well-being. It goes beyond just physical wellness, however. Real self-care isn’t about tending to your selfish needs, it’s about being respectful of what you’ve been given. There is nothing on the planet that is worth sacrificing your wellness, so make it a priority. You are the only link to the outside world, so make sure your link is securely fastened to your inner spirit. You are a conduit for this entire experience that we call “life.” If the mechanism for life’s experience is poorly maintained, you can never fully embrace what life has to offer you. Self-care isn’t about physical appearance either, and it’s certainly not about comfort! Western culture has prioritized comfort of the physical body, (fancy technology, plush cars and homes, all manner of convenience) yet we live in a world with people that are woefully uncomfortable! Respecting your life, making sound choices that add to your sense of wellness, and being joyful are the best way to nurture and care for yourself. You’ll never know the benefits of self-care if you neglect your wellness for the competitive pursuit of selfish desires.

Today is a great day to reflect on what self-care is really about. Only YOU know what’s good for you – and you know what changes you need to make within yourself. Those changes should begin to reflect a respect and care for the life you’ve been given, not a depravation, nor an over-extension of it. Everything you undertake today should reflect a self-nurturing energy. Ingest goodness in all forms. Reflect love in all actions. Sow willingness in all challenge. Cultivate stillness and quiet into the chaos around you. Don’t be afraid to be alone, to be silent, and to be excited about YOUR life and YOUR wellness. Goodness, love, willingness, and silence are the ingredients of real self-care. Don’t allow the words “take care,” to simply be a platitude – make them a meaningful mantra. Live gratitude for life by doing things that nurture your mind, your body, and your soul. Nurturing thoughts and kind actions towards yourself will rekindle your appreciation for being alive, so don’t put it off any longer. Make self-care a priority today, and nurture your joy from within.
