Oh well, there’s always tomorrow. Or is there?

To encourage someone who fails, give them a slug on the chin and remind them that there’s always tomorrow! Unfortunately, while there is always tomorrow, the truth is that we shall never see it. For when tomorrow comes, it will be today. And who’s to say you’ll live another day anyway? Nearly 150,000 people die every day. Those people did not have the tomorrow that they thought would “always” be there. The fact is, the only thing that is always there is the present moment, and that’s something that is worth celebrating.

Tomorrow is a concept. The concept of tomorrow is only helpful in planning and scheduling. That’s about it. Otherwise it is pretty useless. You can’t defer anything until tomorrow. You can’t postpone anything to tomorrow. All of that is a conceptual “shelf,” a means of shaking free from having to think about it in the present moment. If your meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, then it’s done. No more thought about it, unless you need to prepare! Tomorrow does not contain your happiness, either. You cannot save your sense of wellness for the illusory “When I’s” of tomorrow. When I lose ten pounds, then I will feel comfortable at the beach in a swimsuit. When I retire, then I’ll travel more and enjoy life. When I find the love of my life, then I will be so much happier. No you won’t. If you don’t feel happy, content, fulfilled, and joyful at this moment, tomorrow won’t make a difference. Why? Because when tomorrow arrives, it will feel just like today feels. But you can make today turn into yesterday’s hopes! Why not make today the beautiful tomorrow that you once dreamed about? It’s time to fulfill your destiny and to acknowledge that your life is a good one – right here and right now. Don’t postpone your joy and fulfillment any longer.
