Life simply does not come with a satisfaction guarantee – quite the contrary. There are guarantees in life, but they come in forms we don’t think of very often: 1.) challenge, 2.) change, 3.) uncertainly, and 4.) death. Life guarantees trial, and challenge. Each human will endure trials, and we all know that. There is no escaping that part of reality. Each human will also encounter change – lots of change. The rate and quantity of change in one’s life is mind-boggling. Finally, each of us will face uncertainty, and ultimately each of us will face mortality. But how do these guarantees help us find satisfaction?
A deeply satisfied person is one who knows that the flesh and the ego can never be truly satisfied. The physical arrangement of your life’s circumstance needn’t be a certain way for you to be satisfied. If that were the case, rich people would be satisfied, but we all know that ain’t the truth. What the physical realm “needs” from you is to be to be content, peaceful and OK with how things are. Of course, if you can change your situation, or you can make it better, do so. But don’t place your satisfaction in their order, or on how much you have. Life comes with no guarantee of satisfaction, but it does come with options – options to be grateful, peaceful, helpful and happy. Options keep us busy, not with the things of this world, but on becoming better human beings. Choosing to become a better YOU is the only way to real prosperity, anyway. Always keep self-improvement as an open option for your life’s purpose, and I guarantee that you’ll be much more satisfied than just dealing with the “things” of this world.
