If you created the world, there would be no need to explore and wonder about existence. People who wonder about the universe have purpose, they become physicists. If you controlled the world, you’d never need anyone in your life. Helpful people have found their purpose in love and service to others. If you knew the meaning of life, you’d never need art. Artists have found their purpose in making sense of the world, helping others find meaning. Do you see where purpose comes from?
Associate your purpose with needs that are around you. Don’t complain about what’s wrong, do something about it – that’s your purpose, to serve a need. Start off small, and then you can branch out into larger purposes. Your purpose on earth doesn’t have to change the world, it merely needs to serve your particular slice of it. Your unique circumstance gives you a perspective that others may not be able to see. Leverage what you’ve observed, that which needs work, and serve that need. You’ve seen it for a reason.
When you address a need, you’re serving a purpose. Your purpose is about being observant, and to notice what’s in front of you and to improve it, brighten it, or add value to it. It might be something about your own health and wellness, so don’t neglect that as a starting point. Self care is an often overlooked purpose, until it becomes urgent. If you’re having trouble finding a purpose, look around, and see what needs your attention. If you’re lonely, your purpose is to reach out. If you’re unhealthy, your purpose is to make improvements. If you’re bored, your purpose is to do something productive. If you can see it, then you can do something about it. Get good at spotting purposes that are right under your nose. Look for and serve small ones, then the universe will give you something bigger to serve.
