Premature change isn’t an excuse from life’s hardest lessons.

Wednesday, October 26, 2022

Change jobs, and there will be new variables and challenges. Change locations, and there will be new, difficult things in which to adapt. Change partners, and there will be new, unforeseen dysfunction that will challenge your patience, tolerance, and viewpoints. The key is to accept what life is teaching you, before you try to change your situation. A premature change in circumstance won’t help.

After the luster of a new situation fades, it will become like sandpaper. There will be inevitable friction with each new change. New situations will eventually become new challenges. Be careful if you’re trying to escape difficulties by changing something on the external level. Don’t expect to be excused from the lessons that life is trying to teach you, by changing something on the external level. A facelift won’t get to the root of a problem!

Situations are lessons, and lessons are hard. Life won’t excuse you from learning how to be a better human being. Premature or trivial, external changes only distract you from your real homework – working on yourself, as a person. Difficulties tend to dissolve naturally, when you start to learn about what they are teaching you. If you can begin to understand your situation, rather than hate what it’s doing to show you who you are, then lessons become less painful as you mature. Life is teaching you to value it at a totally different level. Unless it’s physically or emotionally abusive, you can live with it, in total acceptance. Life isn’t here to please you, nor to torture you, it’s here to work on you and with you. When you no longer resist what you need to learn, the challenge of the old situation dissolves, and new, better situations arise, on their own. Don’t try to change things superficially or prematurely. No one escapes the work of learning who they are through challenging circumstances.
