If you look into the innocent face of a baby, or into the eyes of a gentle pet, you’ll see the heart of love, staring right back at you. Innocent creatures do not have the capability of casting judgement. They are so fresh from the source that they don’t have the brainpower to even conceive of themselves as “separate.” The so-called journey of adulthood is a dream-like, ego-drifting story – delusional separation from source. But it’s all about a journey home. And that home always welcomes you back, when you seriously begin to contemplate your origins.
Our pets and infants are our greatest teachers. They are too new and underdeveloped to even contemplate a separateness from the love and joy that created them. You can laugh, play, and trust with youthful wonder, a deep trust that all is well. You came from wellness, and you’ll return to it. That’s your home. You came from love and you’ll return to it. There is freedom of knowing where you come from.
You’re not responsible for being here, are you? Something else made that choice for you, and that deep trust is what frees you from falsely believing that there is a “reason” to worry. You don’t need to worry, you just need to come home. The prodigal son story isn’t just about the father accepting his wayward son. It’s about the son remembering his origins, the root of love. How could there be any difference between you and what created you? You are of the same substance that brought you here. The mind will take you far out to sea, but it’s a dream. You cannot really drift from home. The crystal of peace breaks through the lonely dream of the mind. Above it is home. Home is love. Home is safe. Home is peace. Come home.
