The shoreline of your greater sensibility – don’t get too far adrift.

People are edgy. They are on the verge of despair, just on the edge of a raging temper, or an emotional outburst. The storms are everywhere – on the road, in line at the supermarket, on the news, and on social media. Are you being swept up by your own personal storm, or by the storms of others? If so, remember you have a shoreline. You have a space, an inner connection to the eye of the storm. But you have to walk into the center of your island, not to stand on the edge of what could magnify a dramatic response, triggered by the slightest provocation.

In times of relative calm, hoist your sails. In turbulent times, retract your sails, and retreat into the eye of the storm. In retrospect, you’ll learn that most of your life is spent in relative calm. Take a moment to ground yourself in the foundation of gratitude, in thanksgiving with how far you’ve come. Despite challenge, you’ve progressed on course, unscathed. Recognize how much victory you’ve already had over so much adversity. You’ve made it safely to the shoreline, time and time again.

There will be more storms, but deepen your connection with past victories. That’s your shoreline. When you stand upon it, extend a hand to those who are deeply entrenched in their own, personal storms. Be the light house, the center of the island, the root of truth. And that truth is that we cannot be defeated. Let’s help to calm the raging storms of this world by connecting with our own, inner serenity and sanity. That inner serenity can have power and dominion over what only seems like the worst of a raging storm. We can always see through the storm, to find our personal shorelines, each time we are adrift. Don’t allow yourself to drift too far when the wind starts blowing!
