Saying “no” gets you nowhere. To get somewhere, just do it.

When you get an idea, you have to snatch it. Inspiration is like a spark, always coming at “inconvenient” moments. You might have this flash of creativity while you’re in the shower. But often, you have to follow through on it after the moment of inspiration subsides. We can’t just act on our good ideas when they occur. They often come in the middle of the night, or at some other weird time. Inspiration is untimely, when it’s time to workout, for example, inertia has settled in. The impossible barrier is just getting started.

When you get fits of inspiration or an idea, don’t give yourself a chance to say “no.” When it comes, train yourself to catch the spark and say “yes.” Work with it mentally, and turn it into a deeper burn, rather than a flash. Something is saying, “go to the gym,” or “eat healthy foods,” or “call that friend, plan that party, or start that project.” Your highest good is calls in sparkles, in flashes of motivation, never constantly nor at convenient times.

The body and the mind say “no.” But that little boundary is flimsy. You know that if you just got moving, just started, the inspiration would return. Nothing happens in the universe without motion first. Inspiration, and the buzz of accomplishment usually follow after the initializing forces of motion have set forth. But flashes of ideas come when they come, never when it’s time to go to the gym or it’s time to put pen to paper and start that project. It truly is about just doing it. Those who dig deep, who can step over the barrier of inertia achieve amazing things. Nothing will happen until you set it into motion. Maybe it’s time to stop saying “no,” and just do it.
