Your best medicine? Inform yourself.

Your body, your brain, and your emotions are all communicating with you, so learn their language. Learn what they have to say to you, and become more aware. Take advantage of what’s out there, and learn how you can help yourself from what causes your own suffering. With information so readily available, intellectual ignorance has become a choice. Emotional ignorance is no exception. There are ways of helping yourself. If you are asking “why me,” you aren’t alone. Learn what others have done to overcome that form of darkness and despair.

Your emotions don’t get to control your behavior. You do, but there’s no universal user’s manual on how. Do a Google search of “emotional intelligence” and you can read until your heart’s content. The modern world is a classroom, and the answers are easy to find. A little digging, and you can open up a world of information that will immediately make you feel more connected, clear, and grounded. Get onboard with the community of others who have suffered and learn your way out of despair. Read, and take advice from what works for others. Apply the knowledge that already exists. There is really no need to learn the “hard way.”

Intellectual and emotional education will help you to stop torturing yourself when you have difficulty with your feelings – but do the work, take the advice of others. Learn the language of how your mind, body, and emotions communicate, and then you can have the tools and resources to communicate back, to inform your own actions and behaviors. There are so many resources out there. No more need to be confused. Throw out the “why me” questions and start finding the answers for yourself. You’d be amazed at the resources out there to help you. Education just might be your best medication for self- healing.
