Let truth open your own eyes.

Life has a way of showing you when you’re wrong. But often we are blind. We try to stand firmly on concepts that are not right, that do not represent how life actually works. Life swats us down with hefty doses of reality, when we’re blind to the truth. Life is the great corrector. You can’t blow your horn at the aggressive driver and think that’s going to stop how they behave. Oh how we love to point out error. Those who accuse are no better than those who offend.

The truth is hard to deal with. Blame is easier, denial even easier. The fact that a marriage is not working, for example, is easier if you deny it. But the truth has a way of not leaving you alone. When you lose a loved one, the truth of their departure is hard to accept. No matter how hard it is, reality can be befriended. To be freed is to accept, in whatever form it comes, even death.

Learn to face what’s true in your own life. Body’s age. Things decay. People are difficult. Life is terminal. Nothing is perfect. No-one controls the universe. Let those truths sink in before life rubs them in your face. You can be blind, or open. Don’t bother correcting others. Let their eyes be opened by their own trials. The key is to let life teach you the truth. Truth is liberating, and it sets you free to live joyfully, playfully, and without a concern in the world. One more truth, life won’t leave you alone. There will be another disruption, a challenge, or a shock – but face it, accept it, and go with it as soon as you can. If you are in-between disruptions, be grateful. It won’t last forever, but it sure is wonderful.
