The three C’s of success – commitment, consistency, and care – are things I didn’t realize were important, until I saw what kind of results they could produce. These important life ingredients can be applied to many things – relationships, careers, finances, health, and so on. These life tools seem to resonate more when you frame them as questions: How committed are you to _____? How consistent are you with_____? And how much care to you put into______?
Commitment is a daily “check in” of your desire to keep going. It sees beyond the hiccups and ups and downs of the short term and stays in touch with the long term. Commitment sees potential, even if there is a setback. Its opposites, however, are disloyalty, faithlessness, and inconstancy. The second C of success, consistency, is another way of “checking in,” with your daily progress. Consistency takes the form of action. Even the smallest action towards a goal will get you closer to your desires, inch by inch. Consistency is never about quantity, it’s about forward motion. Procrastination is its opposite, and it’s too often our first choice. To be consistent is to actually do something. Finally, there is care. Care is focus, total attention to the task at hand. How well you can pay attention (care) will pay huge dividends in your future, but you have to be willing to devote full attention to the exact step that you are on, right now. It’s opposite is carelessness – and that doesn’t need an explanation!
Use the the three C’s to hone in on today’s progress, not yesterday’s failures or tomorrow’s concerns. Things WILL come together in miraculous ways if you use commitment, consistency and care as a daily reminder of just how far you’ve already come!
