A little progress is better than waiting for your “big break.”

Be open to small opportunities. Don’t turn your nose up at them, if they seem insignificant or unglamorous. If you’re looking for a little help, the universe is stingy at first. Opportunity comes first as a trickle, but then it grows over time, if you appreciate what you have and done your part. Opportunities turn up more frequently, when you appreciate what you have, and you are happy with where you are.

If you’re waiting for a date from Mr. Right, you might have to be happy with a few dates with a couple of Mr. OK’s, first. If you’re waiting for the penthouse on 5th Ave., you might have to get really happy with the room you’re renting on anywhere avenue. If you’re waiting for the invitation to speak in front of thousands, get happy with speaking in front of 2 or 3. If you’re waiting for millions of dollars, you might have to get happy with finding a penny. The small things add up. Recognizing the momentum, even if it’s small, is the key.

Big breaks are for suckers. If there is no momentum in your life, create some appreciation for what you have, take a step forward, or create a new goal. Reignite your spark, and keep your desire aloft. If things are slow, articulate your goals and dreams by telling a friend, one who you know will be supportive, not one who will discourage you or distract you from what you want. Waiting for your big break is just wasting your time. Move forward, say yes to even the smallest opportunity, and be grateful for what tiny steps you can take right now. If you move even just an inch today, you’ll feel much, much better. Create some effort, be grateful for what’s already lining up, and eventually the universe will give you the extra momentum that you’ve been waiting for.
