Getting back to the basics of being alive.

If you look at nature, you’ll see it cannot improve itself. A bird, for example, can be no more of a bird than it already is. A tree cannot improve itself either. They are fully realized, living creatures. They are perfect, full-fledged creations. When you realize that you cannot fundamentally improve yourself, you’ll stop trying so hard to fix something that’s not even broken.

What does it mean to be fully, yourself? How do you realize your potential, as a human? How do you live perfectly? For a long time humans have tried to rely on their belief in God, and it created multiple disasters in the name of “God’s will.” Now, you hear that you just have to believe in yourself. How far has that gotten humanity?

To be fully realized is to do everything with a quiet, intentional focus. To be fully realized is not to fight. It’s to appreciate that you are simply alive, and only for a short period of time. You will be dead for an eternity, but alive for only a blip. Facing your own mortality, in that way, might help you be inspired by just having been awakened this morning. Quietly focus your attention on something that reminds you of your own aliveness – breath, heartbeat, sensations. No more self-help; no more self-improvement; no more self-belief. Those things carry you away into the recesses of the mind. Create time to settle the mind, step away from it, and to focus on who you are. Focus on what you desire, and focus on your purpose. Come back to those fundamental foundations each and everyday. Get back to the basics of being alive, being purposeful, and being in touch with what you really want. It’s a daily regimen. Too much time believing in “yourself” is taking you way from the wonders of your real potential.
