Humans are not good at predicting outcome. That’s because the brain has a negativity bias built right into its wiring. Proclivity is towards predicting the worst, so that when the future arrives, you feel like you can absorb the impact of the bad bad news. Really? At some level, you know your negative expectation is what’s holding you back. Predictability (life feeling the same everyday) is a signal that you need to change your expectations, to work towards staying in the spirit of joyful anticipation.
Your birth was an event that beat unimaginable odds. Why not see what happens if you play those odds, again and again? The only thing holding you back, are your doomsday predictions. That’s all. Naysayers aren’t victorious, they’re insidious. They love to say, “I told you so,” but for what good? Wouldn’t you rather have abundance than a sick feeling of being “clairvoyant” about the worst, possible outcome? Well you can’t have both. You can’t be a doomsday naysayer and expect good things in your life. It doesn’t work that way. Those two energies cancel each other out, and they deplete momentum.
Expecting today to feel exactly like yesterday won’t yield new results. Expect more blessing and more favor than yesterday, to see new results. Expect surprise and delight, and you’ll overcome routine. You can start right now with better, grander, and more joy-inducing expectations. Monitor yourself slipping back into old, negative habits. If you feel yourself slip, excuse yourself for a moment, get comported and reface joy – the main ingredient for hopeful expectations. When you sustain hope, you’ll see your life turn around quicker than you ever thought it could. Life is waiting for you to expect something better than the routine of yesterday. Why not give it a try, and see what happens? Expecting the worst has not been helping you. Let’s try a new strategy. You should give it a try, the odds of succeeding are already in your favor.
