The foretaste of advancement is a baby step away.

Life is like a doting father, waiting for his baby to take a step, towards his father’s open arms. But a baby will only take a step when he feels ready, mature enough, and encouraged. When the foretaste of success supersedes the fear of failure, the toddler steps forward. That’s the tipping point of success. After the initializing action, the father sweeps him up, into his arms, into the sky, smiling and saying, “Good job!” That’s what success is, and it’s exhilarating.

Don’t fear success. Advance towards it. Sit quietly and discern anything that’s nagging at you to improve it, what’s calling you to move towards it, what’s prompting you to contribute to it, or to what needs you to wait for it. It’s never too late to initiate an action item, either. Grandma Moses didn’t paint her first picture until she was 75!

Success’ doors are locked if you have a negative self-disposition, a complaining attitude, and a mediocre sense of self worth. Open yourself up for success, then the doors of opportunity will welcome you in, like a loving father. When they do, take a baby step. But don’t fear the responsibility of what comes with success – more resources, more influence, and more responsibility. Advancement is part of your destiny, just take the step forward, and let life show you the rest of way. Each step will be designed slightly higher than the previous one. Take a baby step, then before long, giant leaps will be nothing. Have courage to have more. Have understanding to feel more worthy. Be curious of what’s on the other side of opportunity’s door, the flip-side of failure, the unknown realm of success, the place that has been keeping you locked out for so long. Don’t be afraid of success, life will show you how to move forward, when you’re ready.
