Nature doesn’t duplicate herself. Look around. Even plants and trees of the same species have distinguishable differences. I don’t know enough about science, but I have a hunch that nothing in nature is exactly the same. Perhaps there are things in quantum physics that could prove me otherwise, but I’m just going with what I can observe in my own life. We have likeness, and we have uniqueness in this beautiful universe of ours, and they coexist in perfect union. How is it that nature can create so many unique versions of the same thing? And with each unique reiteration, it evolves, gets better, and grows stronger.
Since you are one-of-a-kind, nobody can plagiarize you. You may get inspired by others, but your version will always have a unique thumbprint, and maybe even an improvement! When you look up to someone, or envy them, the energy behind that sentiment is one of inferiority. Is the best that you can do with your creative energy to plagiarize? Holding others in high regards diminishes your own self-regard. Besides, you cannot copy, you can only develop what you learn. What I admire in others, I recognize in myself and I work to improve upon it. That’s not plagiarism. That’s inspiration.
Don’t look at uniqueness as a gift for a select few. It belongs to you, too. Use likeness to cooperate and to empathize. Use uniqueness to develop your creative potential. Give up on putting people on pedestals, or trying to copy their brand. Develop your own brand. You’ll never find your true nature if you are a copy machine. You’ll never develop any gifts if you feel like just an “ordinary” person. In some ways you are, but in others, you’re not. Developing your unique gifts comes through seeing the difference.
