Go ahead and jump. It’s not a stretch, it’s a test of faith.

When opportunity strikes, it often feels out of reach, and a bit too much for you to handle. Something comes up, and it feels like a push, like you don’t have enough resources or experience. You feel like you’re not ready, so you shrink back. But you are ready, that’s why the opportunity came. Opportunities seem out of reach in order to face your insecurities. They come to test the faith you have in yourself.

I have turned down so many opportunities because I thought they were beyond my reach. When something big comes along, which doesn’t happen often, the first thing you think is “How?” That question ruins the momentum and opens the door for doubt. If you keep saying “no,” big doors stop opening.

It’s so important to recognize when life is trying to stretch you a bit. The chasm from where you are to where you are going is within your ability! Some people are very good at recognizing possibility. They can walk into an old, dilapidated structure and start envisioning its potential as a good investment. Some people have developed a knack for seeing opportunity everywhere. If the opportunity feels predictable, safe, and perfect then it probably won’t be all that rewarding. If it feels risky, like a stretch, or beyond your comfort zone, we run away from it. But it’s in those opportunities that you grow the most. What are you saying “no” to because it feels like too much of a stretch? At some point, you have to show yourself that you can. You have to stop saying “no,” and look beyond your limit. The only way to breakthrough is to reach through to the open door. You must prove to yourself that your fear is unfounded. You’ll make it. The opportunity wouldn’t have come along if you weren’t capable of that stretch.
