The common bond of being ordinary

5 February 2021

What you have, and what you’ve done can never be greater than who you are. Who you are (without you social status, position or things) is who I am too. It’s who we all are. This “ordinary,” common bond is the only way to dissolve the egotistical fantasy that elevates, or lowers people. In the eyes of the creator, no one is more or less than another.

Today, shift your attention from the persona (one’s so-called public image) to the person (the common mystique that animates the lifeform). When you see the person, you see the ordinary commonality that we all share as humans. Our emotions, insecurities, vulnerabilities, our need to bond, etc. are all part of this common personhood. You have no enemies in commonalities. The divisiveness we have is mental, and so flimsy, that a single disaster (like 9/11 or some other catastrophe) can dissolve differences in a nanosecond. But why must we wait for such an “earthquake” to break through the barriers of the mind and ego?

There is no reason to wait for the wake up call. You can begin now – seeing the humanness in those around you, even in those who annoy you or who’s personality gets under your skin. You can now see beyond that egotistical, “image” (persona) and recognize their vulnerabilities (person). Condemning the persona is easy, and it flames the embers of divisiveness. Accepting the person, beneath that flimsy exterior, takes practice. Do a little practicing today.
