Life doesn’t come with a user’s manual.

Life cannot be lived by a set of prescriptive instructions that someone else writes for you. I’m not talking about words on a page. Reading and speaking words about how to live a so-called better life doesn’t work. Words may help you initially, but ultimately you must discover for yourself the deeper dimensions of what I am referring. If a life’s how-to manual came in the form of words on a page, you would think that we would have gotten the message by now! There are countless books on how to live a better, healthier, more fulfilling life, yet humans are more miserable than ever before. Furthermore, telling other people what to do, how to live, or how to “fix” their problems never works either.

A human is so amazingly complex that it may take a few lifetimes to actually “get it.” The truth is, we are trying to use a sophisticated piece of equipment (ourselves), and have no idea what we are even capable of. A human is the most marvelous invention ever created, yet we as a species can’t seem to recognize the amazing potential we possess. Heroes, inventors, athletes, motivators, healers, teachers, and so on, are using the same “equipment” you and I are. But we’re more than a brain and a body. If you could access your user’s manual, it would show you how to get the optimum performance out of the equipment you’re using. It would show you how to use all the secret gadgets, shortcuts, and it would give you access to the wizardry of its embedded technology. But how does one access the “instructions” for this awesome potential of being a human?

Begin by knowing who you are; ask what your purpose is everyday; ask how you may be of service today. From there, you’ll get the wordless answers – hunches, impulses, intuitiveness, etc. You’ll get “software updates” through a deeper knowing of what to do. You’ll get fresh ideas, inspired creativity, and new behavior impulses. The only way to “download” your how-to manual is by becoming still and using silence as a guide. Secondly, become curious about yourself in ways you never have been before. Take chances, lean in towards what you fear, and be open to radical change, if necessary. The first chapter of your user’s manual is probably going to be about letting go, trusting in the universal intelligence that exists in you, and getting curious about life on a deeper, wordless level. These are the ways to access the user’s manual of the life you have. Begin to access that part of you that knows that you are more than you think you are. Optimize the miracle of this amazing technology called YOU, and move beyond the limits you’ve been placing on yourself.
