Every time you’re faced with a situation, particularly a challenging one, you always have three choices: 1.) Avoid (or remove) the situation 2.) Change the situation, or 3.) Accept the situation. Let’s start with number one and number two. Sometimes you might say to yourself, “If I change this or avoid that, then I’ll be happier.” If you believe avoidance and/or change will deliver a better sense of wellbeing, you may be making decisions for the wrong reasons. Many people try to rearrange the conditions of their life’s situation, only to find themselves just as frustrated and as sad as they were before they started. It’s OK to work at making a situation better, but don’t depend on it (or a person!) to make you happy. Most often it’s number three, acceptance, that’s what is needed in your life.
Acceptance, in its simplest form, says, “yes” to what is. Even saying “no” is a form of acceptance. Saying “no,” when you know it’s necessary, can be very powerful. When you say no, you’re often accepting the truth, with sincere and necessary conviction. But acceptance in its essence is allowing reality to evolve as it needs to. Acceptance prioritizes peacefulness and wellness over a dependance that everyone and everything conforms to your selfish desires. Acceptance acknowledges that you have to rely on a higher presence to face challenge. Acceptance is total cooperation, cohabitation, and coexistence with reality, not a denial, a judgement, or a condemnation of it. Acceptance is intending goodwill in everything you undertake, even if it’s something you have to do. Acceptance is a trust, that in this moment, everything is as it should be. Acceptance is total cooperation with the gentle force of your higher self – the one that knows what’s best for you. Acceptance embraces truth. Acceptance never deceives you. Accept yourself. Accept your life. Accept all the bounty that comes with making reality your best friend. Acceptance is your gateway to freedom!
