Don’t wait any longer to take initiative. Waiting hasn’t served you well. To tell you the truth, it is the universe that is waiting on you. I once heard Chris Rock talk about a time in his life when his car broke down, and he waited on the side of the road for someone to help him. Nobody would stop to help him. He waited and waited. He finally decided to move to the rear of his car and try to push it himself. Not long after he began pushing, multiple people stopped to assist. There is an important lesson here – don’t wait for the universe to help you. Realize that the universe is waiting for you to take the initial steps.
I have seen this happen in my life time and time again. But fear and discouragement often held me back. Failing is something we avoid like the plague. Getting beyond the fear and the inertia is the most difficult part of moving towards your goals and ideas. If you’re waiting for an invitation from the universe, you’ll wait for a lifetime. Whenever I had good ideas, I used to get so discouraged when I was told “no” by others, or if I thought about how “improbable” the idea was. I might take an initial step towards something in a flash of enthusiasm. But it wasn’t long before I would convince myself that my idea would never work. But what I failed to realize is that I didn’t go far enough into the initial action to allow the universe to works its magic. I didn’t push my car quite far enough to garner assistance that I needed.
It often takes initiative, a positive outlook, and dash of faith to make things happen, but that’s how you get the “goodies” in life. That’s the winning formula. Set small goals and put forth even the tiniest effort. Don’t get discouraged too quickly, if it seems like the universe isn’t responding. Even if the results take awhile, you will certainly feel better about overcoming the inertia! Today, be encouraged about your actions and make a little progress towards those things that you know you need to do. Who knows what magic will be unleashed if you take just an enthusiastic, small step forward, today.
