The way you love is unique. The way you are loved is also unique. That’s because love can be expressed in limitless ways. There are 8 billion people on the planet, each unique expressions of love. And your particular “brand” of love rarely comes back to you in the same, exact form that you give it. Isn’t that amazing?
If someone loves you, the challenge is to accept how they love you. You cannot expect them to love you the way you love them. Everyone is different, so they will express love in very different ways. This is a good thing. It teaches you the limitlessness of love’s expressive dimensions. And it teaches you new ways to love. Love is a multifaceted skill and a stern teacher. If you allow people to love you according to their unique expression and capability, it’s more meaningful. It’s genuine, and that’s the heart of true love – sincerity.
Never attach an expectation to love, that’s the key. You’ll know if love is present because it holds things together, but intangibly. That’s not to say effort isn’t necessary in creating loving relationships; but the effort is in letting go, not in clinging to the other person, or to your expectation of how and when they express their love to you. True love doesn’t cling or expect, yet it binds. That bond is not possessive, it’s open, which seems paradoxical to the mind. Give that some thought. The universality of love’s language also transcends the ego’s “need” to be reassured of its presence. The spirit will know if love is present, deep down inside. You don’t need constant reminders to feel the security of love’s truthful bond. Just receive it as it wishes to come to you. These are the greatest secrets of true love, and probably the hardest to understand.
