Your mind often expects and tries to “predict” a certain outcome. Attempts to outsmart reality in this way, never work. But what I’ve come to learn (the hard way) is that the outer reality of our physical circumstance cannot be pinned down into a rigid or predictable mindset. The only expectation that you can have is the expectation that your life’s contents, people and things in your life, will evade your attempts to box them in; to make them conform to your will; and to manipulate them to keep you “comfortable.” The universe will simply challenge that rigid expectation, over and over again. The joke is on you, when you expect things and people to be thus and so to make you happy. Be wary when you expect things to be “perfect,” in this way. It’s the formula for disappointment!
The concept of perfectionism will slip through the “fingers” of your mind so fast, that when there is a major change in your life (and there will be!), you’ll be left with your mouth gaping wide, speechless, and in disbelief. The journey of real faith comes when we accept the truth that life is fluid, illusive, and impossible to cage into a conceptual paradise of what the mind thinks is “perfect.” Instead, life is variable and an open-ended question with ongoing lessons meant to benefit your inward journey. The shift to real peace is in enjoying this journey – the journey with no destination and no expectation of a specific, outer outcome that will seemingly make you happy. Knowing that all things are working to benefit you, no matter what they look like, specifically on the outer realm, is what true faith is all about. The faith-filled journey always reflects inward towards yourself, towards what you’re really looking for. Putting your faith in anything or anyone else will only disappoint you. To live a life free of disappointment is to live a life of willingness, openness, and an unwavering faith that all things are working in your favor – the favor of being unconditionally loved by that which created you.
