If you get lost in the perplexing discovery of your life’s purpose and how you might contribute to the world, things can get gray, dim, or overwhelming. There may be a small way, however, to ease the burden of not discovering your particular strengths. If you are unsure of how to offer the world something, through what you’re good at, then the one thing you can do now, is to offer your best. In other words, up your game, in every aspect of your life – finances, health, diet, exercise, relationships, etc. But the most important place to start, is in what you offer to yourself, when you’re alone.
Improve upon how you “show up” in the world today, even if you’re not going to see another human being. Keep better company with yourself. You can offer better company with yourself by asking more probing questions, when you’re deciding on what to wear, on what to eat, or in how you’re going to spend your free time. Offer yourself options, or ask interesting questions, then answer – write down your responses! Be a better host for yourself today, and treat yourself like a royal guest.
Offer yourself options; give yourself time to dream; and ask yourself good questions. Give yourself the option to do better, and to be more engaged with the activities that you choose to do. Put on your best attitude; put on your best attempts; and give yourself your best ideas for spending your alone time. Imagine yourself to be the most gracious host, and simultaneously, the most appreciative guest in your very own home. Give yourself a chance to dream, to imagine something amazing for your life. Don’t give yourself or the world, what’s left over. Make what you offer to yourself a priority, in all that you undertake and think. You’ll feel better, and be more enthusiastic to give to others, if you give yourself more options, and you keep better company with yourself. If you can’t pinpoint your purpose today, then hone in on improving what you can offer yourself, right this very minute.
