Be a servant of your greater good.

Catch your mind in the act, so to speak, and examine the usefulness of what you say to yourself. But more importantly, examine how your thoughts affect your mood, your emotions, and your attitude. Also observe your feelings when you are with other people you’ve chosen to spend time with. Are they triggering negative thoughts and emotions? Examine your activities, in your free time. Are you spending time doing things you really don’t like?

Avoid situations and people that set off your mental and emotional anguish. Not picking up the phone, to scroll through social media, is totally acceptable, especially if doing so makes you envy the lives of others, or if a particular political post angers you. Not watching the news is perfectly acceptable, especially if it upsets you, saddens you, or triggers negative thoughts and emotions. It’s perfectly acceptable not to eat or to drink anything that will eventually cause you anguish or weight gain. It’s perfectly acceptable to stop making choices that make you feel poorly about yourself, for whatever reason. At what point will you begin to serve your greater good, rather than those things that have the potential to harm you, physically, mentally, and emotionally?

Work towards channeling everything in your life to serve your greater good. Yes – everything from finances and career to relationships and diet. All of your choices, behaviors, and thoughts can serve your greater good. Our purpose as humans is to connect to the goodness that serves our wellness. We don’t have to connect to the uselessness of life-draining people, or to take part in unwise habits that serve our misery. Connect to what serves your greater good, and drop the rest. Start thinking useful thoughts. Start taking useful actions. Goodness is meant to follow you, all the days of your life. But it can only follow you, if you begin to make choices that serve your wellness, that promote your happiness, and that allow peace into your inner being.
