Call it into existence and be stopped by what you name – GOD – the immoveable, immortal object.
My god has been my banking app, falling digits on a screen, petrified, immoveable. My other god has been my ex-spouse who hurt me, left me, cheated on me and ruled over my life. Time, another god, has me fooled. I don’t have time – so I don’t move. It’s got me gripped in its mouth and frozen.
Sometimes, my god is this body – worn and frail, battered and decrepit, ugly and most unattractive to potential mates. A lot of times, my gods are my goods – stuff, my past, thoughts of doom, scenarios that play out in my imagination, foretelling disaster, dredging guilt.
The goddess named Tomorrow is most beguiling. She plagues and bullies me, preventing me from anything joyful, spontaneous, and free. She makes me save, clench, and hoard. She makes me do things “cautiously.” She rules over me, whispering that she needs me more than anything else in this world. Tomorrow is my master.
The most horrid of the horrific god of gods, however, is my mind. Its stories are gripping, convincing, and real. It needs proof. It needs evidence before permitting me to proceed.
The mind is not the way. God is not the way. The mind is not in the way, nor is God in the way.
I am the way.
The obstructions lie down when I am the way. Present, the way is made known. Absent, the way is obscured, yet strangely still present in the background and quietly recording that “gap.”
The object, then, is to be The Subject, not to be subjected (coerced) by the objects you envision; nor to be petrified, bullied, or enslaved by the obstacles–the nonliving, nonreal “gods” engraved by and made indelible by your own imagination.
When you are the way, you erase what stands “in it.”
