A person who feels a need for love will find other “loveless” people to give it to them. These two menacing merchants enter into a quiet shadow of ledger keeping.
Subversively, records are kept—tit for tat, eye for eye. Invite me to a party, and quietly, your shadow will expect a return invitation. Get a gift and feel the strings of guilt “tug” at your heart to reciprocate. Someone texts you—feel the tug from the strings of expectation to respond immediately. Always say thank you—it’s polite, and it makes mommy happy. In this transactional nature of what appears as love, strings are attached in so many directions, it creates a massive debtors’ prison of IOUs and expectations. I wonder what the world, God, or anyone “owes” you? Furthermore, of what are you guilty? Treason? Trespass?
True love, should you ever recognize its fullness within yourself, never keeps records. Does the sun keep records of who loves or “uses” its energy? Who shakes its fist at it? Who worships it? Is there an agreement between the sun and the earth? No. The sun shines and radiates regardless of your worthless opinion—praise or blame.
Does gravity have a contract with you? No, gravity is always on. Always doing its “best giving.” You can “take” all the gravity you want. You may even renounce it. How futile would any of that be?
If you “need” more love, you are lying to yourself. How could you earn anything when you generate it yourself—like money, time, or love?
How can I be in need of gravity, sunshine, or love? Those who are in need, they believe themselves to be the screen. Those who lack nothing understand they are the projector.
