Enough lack and gluttony.

Thursday, April 9, 2026

When is enough enough? If you keep consuming information that increases craving, enough is never enough. Facebook knows this all too well; welcome to “endless scrolling.” Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube won’t stop feeding you until you’ve had your fill. But why be sick of it?

Food manufacturers and cigarette makers know this, too. Keep them craving. Keep them subscribing. Keep them paying annual dues. The empty calories of potato chips leave you strangely full – full of wanting more. What stops you might be the salt, or your jaw tires, or the bag becomes empty. Or, you’re disgusted and sick with yourself.

Have you truly had enough? Ask yourself, “What can I do without?” Your problem may not be “not having,” but having too much. Lack and gluttony are close cousins. Moderation is wise. Understanding craving can save you. See through the “endless” nature of technology, news, junk food, and products designed to “save” you time and money—mere constructs of the mind’s insatiable “need.”

There is enough sugar, fat, and noise. There is enough empty calories. There is enough addiction. There is enough emptiness. There is enough gluttony. When enough is enough, you’ll realize how little existence requires and how living in “survival mode” is sickening.

From fulfillment comes joy, peace, and play. Full and fill. Two words meaning the same thing. How can you fill what is already full? That’s the great mystery of “enough.”

Have you had your fill of emptiness? Welcome to “enough.” Or would you rather wait until you’re sick of it?

Whether stuffing your face, or your mind, or wondering when satisfaction will come, you’ve learned what enough is.

Why sicken yourself with lack and/or gluttony? We can leave the so-called extremities alone. It’s not about too much or too little, but in having sickened yourself so much, you’re sick of it.
