When you notice the present moment, you’ll become aware that there is rarely anything actually “wrong” with it. If you feel well, you are fully aware, and there is no physical pain, then there are no problems at this moment. Where are your so-called problems, at this very second? Can you pinpoint their location? Most of what we consider struggle in life is nothing but a story about what happened yesterday or what might happen later. 99% of the time, our problems don’t relate to the present moment, yet we are haunted by events of past and future.
The brain has a way of interrupting your present-moment activity to “discuss” what it wants to bring up – that hurtful thing someone said to you, that disturbing evening news report, or the results of that recent bloodwork you had done. The mind wants your attention, and it usually demands you focus on “problems,” not on what you are currently doing, in the present moment. If you are reading these words, carefully, and fully devoting yourself to the comprehension of their meaning – you have no problems. Personally, I’ve grown tired of juggling my unresolved issues by allowing my mind to interrupt my current activity. Stop allowing your mind to interrupt what you are engaged in, right now, and right here. Read carefully, slowly, and deliberately. Do all things that way. Apply that kind of razor-sharp focus to each and everything you do today. Let your awareness fully illuminate each moment, without mental interference. A stillness of peace will come over you in ways that you won’t fully understand, but it is the best way to dissolve the problems of past and future.
