Living has no prayer if you’re bitching.

Vigorous exercise before the sun comes up has saved me. Enjoy rising early, and get the body invigorated promptly. I do it in a fasted state, relying purely on what’s “in the tank.”

I feel this taps into deep energy reserves realized by few. Placing strenuous demands on the body, first thing, robs the mind of its draining tendencies. It moves stored energy from the so-called strenuous demands of the mind into the body, relieving the mind of its worrisome duties for the time being. Of course, you’ll have to get past the “I don’t wanna” syndrome wanting to start the day. You have to give the mind no time to say “I don’t wanna.”

Once you overcome the petulant mind, it submits. It will see the benefit of strenuous exercise at 5a.m. But few do this because they can’t overcome the “I don’t wanna’s.” Many people have sung the praises of getting the body moving before the mind has a chance to talk you out of it. Routines are hard to set, but once set, they can work wonders.

My first order each day is a journaling session over green tea. My mind gets a workout, but it’s writing beautiful things of gratitude and dreams. I can’t imagine a morning without journaling. If I didn’t journal, I’d engage in a mental bitch session. I don’t give my mind a chance to bitch.

Now, I engage in a two-mile run at 4:30a.m. and by 5:15 I’m doing vigorous exercise. The mind hasn’t a prayer – I’m moving too fast. I don’t set up the conditions for a bitch session.

Invigorating the body before you engage in a bitching session, an envy session on social media, a griping session on how your time is wasted checking email, or a disgust session of news-consuming, introduces you to real living.

Real living has no prayer, however, if you can’t give up bitching.
