Jesus said, “The love of money is the root of evil.” We give our concepts power, like we give our teddy bears life. That’s because we don’t realize we’re turning things into gods. And money is a cruel god. Of course, Jesus reminded us, “You cannot serve two masters.”
The God we love is a person in the sky, a Sistine-chapel-like image of a muscularly defined father who watches “down” from the ceiling. Money is the same. Money is keeping us safe. Money is providing for us. Money is allowing us, dictating our moves, and preventing us.
If the slave is to be free, the slave must stop calling herself “trapped” in a bank. You’re being held hostage by the future, by something not real. Not even the God in the sky knows how the universe will play itself out. There is no God in the sky. To know how the universe works, we watch it play out and accept trustingly, even when the coffers go dry, even negative.
If you don’t have enough for tomorrow, your God in the sky is looking down on you, and you’ll be on your knees begging. If you don’t have enough for tomorrow, you’ll be praying to the Lotto Almighty to “strike it rich.”
But, if you are financially independent, you’re free from the concept of money. How do you free a slave? Stop slaving to the digits on your computer screen. The future, tomorrow, and money ain’t real. We follow what’s Real.
The root of your money woes begins with a prayer, “Our Powerball, who art in heaven….” If only the God in heaven would give us the 6 lucky digits. That’s all we need!
Is your God 6 numbers that you need? Mine is all the numbers and non-numbers. And all the numbers and the non-numbers are mine – even 0.
