I used to love winning. But winning is not what it’s cracked up to be. Most people are playing in the court of winning and losing. I’m talking about settling out of court. The Great Arbitrator is awakening. You’re learning that silence is golden.
What is this “out of court,” where all things settle? This is the realm of potential or the field of dreams. Most people’s field of dreams is cluttered by a blizzard of words and images, a junkyard of “things” with finish lines and deadlines. It’s capsized with doomsday. It’s stirred up like a snow globe. The blizzard stops. You begin to sense the sheen and stillness of a snow-covered field, the clearest, unlimited sky of truth. The field of dreams opens and clears. You frolic!
I can’t take you there. It’s here among us, nestled so subtly, like yeast that’s made its way through dough. Politics have deteriorated to winning. It’s not about policy, goodwill, and character, but “being right.” And it’s never about shutting up, shutting it off, and returning to the court of silence.
You can settle out of court, but the court of public opinion and being right or wrong has the airwaves. Arguments are truly settled when there is no comeback line, no opponent, no words, no vendetta. Just silence. Just a settling feeling. But you have to sit a while and let your win-lose mind settle down.
The sheen of silence! How can silence argue, win, or lose? Is winning king? Silence is the King of Kings. Settling out of court is this feeling that nothing needs to be said, gained, lost, or done. It’s settled. Not in words, but in blind trust. What’s king? Knowing the power of keeping your heart open and your mouth shut.
