One look is all it took.

If you ever launch into a creative field, be ready for bad ideas, bad performances, and bad creations. When a creative person “suddenly” comes into the field of notoriety, it could appear as if they were prodigious from the outset. We have to look again, dig deeper.

It was said Jesus was prodigious. When he was presented in the temple, Simeon took the young Christ Child in his arms, took one look into the face of the child and experienced profound peace, a transformation he called “salvation,” a deep dive into unconditional love. Some claim that Jesus was born that way. All infants are born that way.

Deeply touched artists and writers bring from the depths of their being a Truth which surfaces in what they create. Jesus created and performed sermons, teachings, healings, and miracles. Divinely inspired creators “pull” you in. I find this pull in Bach’s music. Bach dove deep into the mystery and put that gravitational “pull” into his music. It brings you to stillness. It exposes Truth because it captivates you. Many don’t hear this pull as it sounds like noise. They haven’t the capacity to dive that deep – yet.

At first, your creations will come from the surface, which is murky. Keep fishing. Keep moving deeper and you’ll fish out concealed clarity, Truth. Maybe not in its fullest, but the deeper you go, the more “draw” your works will have. You can live this way too. Eventually, you’ll have the same effect Jesus had on Simeon. You once had that as you gazed without judgement into your mother’s eyes. You can “see” this way again. You can live this way again. Like an infant, and you’ll have an impressionable effect on the world, transforming it one person at a time.
