The mystery of origami.

“The Mystery of Origami?” Yes, life is a mysterious unfolding, a bunch of bits of paper that turn into forms and crumple back into bits.

I prefer the word trust rather than faith. Over gratitude, I prefer the word appreciation. Over God, I prefer to use The Universe, or I. So today, the mystery of faith is the mystery of origami, or trust. Same difference.

Trust is a settlement, much like a far-off land. It’s a settling sensation, a foundation that sets your mind at ease and calms you down. It’s a grounding in the eternal now, that heavenly country that’s protected from the dangers of past and future. Trust is that blissful, blind realm that we disappear to when we and the actions we perform merge. Time and eternity stand still, and the mind is at ease in the unity of now – even though the “shapes” aren’t recognizable.

I can be secure in an insecure world, as soon as I secure my attention on my most immediate action. It’s a mystery that things unfold before my eyes – wanted and unwanted. It’s a mystery that such complex events have worked themselves out. I don’t know how. I am the mysterious link between past and future. When I look forward, I’m not sure, but I see it working. It’s like origami unfolding before me. I don’t know what I’m seeing until the twisted paper turns into a bird or a tree.

How it happens, that it happens, when it happens, and why it happens beats me – but it happens through me, with me, and in me, in the unity of now. I’ve learned to trust that life works like origami. You’re not sure what the tiny paper artist is unfolding until it “appears.” Wow – the mystery of trust. The mystery of origami, The Originator.
