If only I could have it my way all the time; then I would miss those times when things don’t go my way.
If only people would stop bothering me and leave me alone; then I would miss being interrupted and inconvenienced.
If only people would listen to me; then I’d get tired of talking all the time, never listening to them.
If only I could have balance in my life; then I’d get bored and think, “I need some imbalance in my life.”
If only I could get things under control; then I’d miss those “out-of-control,” wild, and crazy times.
If only I could find the perfect mate; then I’d miss my perfect independence.
If only I could get my life on track; then I’d miss the sidetracks, the tangents, and the excursions.
If only I could get my mind to stop chattering; then I’d miss talking to myself.
If only people would pay attention to me; then I’d miss being anonymous.
If only I had all the money in the world; then I’d miss saving, shopping for a bargain, and thinking twice about my compulsive spending.
If only I could get rid of my enemies; then I would never know who my real friends were.
If only I could quit working and sit on the porch; then I’d miss productivity and activity.
If only I were God; then I’d miss not knowing the future.
If only I had it my way; then the world would be bland.
If only I were human; then I would never know about my divine nature.
If only I were human; if only I were divine. If only I were spirit; if only I were ego.
If only life were interesting, contrasting, and wonderful…
