What is practice? It means the application or use of an idea, belief, or method, as opposed to theories relating to it. It seems like the difference between reality and thinking about reality, although in its own domain, thinking is reality.
To live as a practitioner, one would assume there is no end. That allows you to use life as opportunities to practice. Doctors practice. Attorneys practice. Spiritualists practice. Musicians practice. Wouldn’t everything be practiced, rather than perfected, mastered, or dominated?
Jesus was said to have been the perfecter of faith, but I don’t know how that’s possible. He said we’d do greater things than he did. We’re still practicing faith, unless you’ve given up hope. If you’re goal-oriented, remember that a performance is practice in disguise. There is no peak, but only the constant piquing of potential.
To pique is to stimulate. To peak is to create a limit. To peek is to have a look from time to time. These are very different phenomena, but relate to the notion that life cannot be one-upped. Are you in peak shape? Athletes keep breaking records. Have you mastered your field of study? Have you dominated your partner? Terminal degree? A death sentence, like a terminal disease.
Mental, physical, and spiritual living is pique living with utmost wonder and curiosity. You are a perpetual student who is being stimulated. How could an eternal universe have a graduation? Goals are good, but practical living is more fun. It puts you in a pique state not peak shape. Some people can’t live with the fact that life is eternal and practical. So they try to cap it, put a lid on it, and screw it up. But you can’t mess up practice! There is no peak. There is only the eternal pique, peeking into timelessness, and the eternal practice of unconditional love. Enjoy living practically.
