Communing with others. The way to heal.

The spirit longs for connection. It’s yearning to commune with others and to build intimate relationships. All we seem to have time for are cursory relationships. Acquaintances are okay, but there seems to be a lack of depth in how we communicate, even with those we think are close to us. To commune means to share one’s intimate thoughts or feelings with (someone), especially on a spiritual level.

Most of our conversations are tangential, which means touching lightly, incidental, or peripheral. I’m feeling my own spirit wishing to converse deeply with others about their innermost thoughts and feelings. Even with our spouses and partners, we’re usually talking about incidentals, the “stuff” of the day.

I long to have a deep conversation. I long to know someone from the inside out. I want to know what they think, what they feel, and how they view the world. We assume everyone sees the world as we do, but I think there are things “in there” that could be very useful if only we went a bit deeper with our questions to one another.

My Morning Motivator is my way of communing. It’s a snapshot of my soul and of what I think about. Unfortunately, I don’t get to receive responses from those of you who read this blog. I wish it were a two-way street. I have come to realize that I haven’t had that many deep, intimate conversations with anyone. Perhaps we don’t have time or interest.

I feel communing is what we need. I think it would heal the world. A friendly chat on social media won’t cut it. If only we would open up just a bit more, look each other in the eye, and get below the surface. I think it would allow healing and unleash great potential.
