Go ahead. Disturb the beehive of ignorance.

A good artist knows how to penetratively “get” to their audience. High caliber creativity comes from a deep place, even what you might consider a disturbance or a yearning of the creative soul. An artist makes an impact – a palpable something that cannot be put into words. If one is deeply connected to source, their impact drills in. Many of us are afraid to make an impact because we don’t want to offend. Go deep into the micro-recesses of your soul, split the atom, and watch it explode. The sleeping giant needs a wake up call.

Beethoven was harshly criticized by Carl Maria Von Weber who published a scathing review of Beethoven’s Fourth Symphony in 1809. He even went so far as to say that Beethoven was “ripe for the madhouse.” Weber eventually reversed his position.

A creative person stirs up the outside, simply by expressing a stirring from deep inside. They make an impact. To make an impact, you have to drive a sword into the sleeping giant. Jesus said that he came not to make peace, but to drive a sword. The impact of that sword is still rippling through the universe, stirring people up and waking the dead. I’m not talking about making trouble. I’m talking about being creative.

The spirit stirs the creator, and the creator stirs the surface. Write a sonata, play music, paint a picture, or write a book from the depths of your soul, and the angry bees swarm, ready to sting. Good. You’ve made them think. You awaken them. Had you not expressed your creative work, you’ll never know the impact you could make. Stir the bees. They can only sting if you allow them to. But remember, if they manage to drive their stinger into your skin they die. You can take a little prick. Just remember, you’ve got a sword.
