The divided mind. Building a case against yourself.

Monday, June 10, 2024

Have you built up a case against yourself? Have you justified every reason as to why you can’t lose weight, find a mate, accomplish a goal, have a rewarding career, or take charge of your health? Some of my favorites from the “law book” are – it’s genetic; I’m not like “those” people; I’m so lazy; I’m okay with being mediocre; It just wasn’t in the cards for me; or I’m unlucky.

The prosecutor in you is ruthless and will throw the book at you in every endeavor. We’ve gotten very good at unknowingly building a case against ourselves. If each of us was a real prosecutor and built a case against a suspected criminal, our conviction rate would be 100%. No one would be set free because our inner prosecutor is convinced of the guilt.

Switching sides wont help either. The defense attorney knows no better. Can’t you see that you’re innocent? Can’t you see there’s no charge? You’ve punished yourself enough. What is that part of you that feels guilty? What is that part of you that feels innocent? Truthfully, you’re undivided by that nonsense. You are one. The so-called dividing line of guilt/innocence is trickery in the mind.

The part of you that thinks you can be improved, and the part of you that does the improving are one-in-the-same. You only think you’re divided into judge, jury, prosecutor, and defense. This is the travesty – playing courtroom in the head. Instead of playing courtroom, why not play the role of you, the person you were created to be. Play the part with conviction, not with the mindset of a guilty convict.

If you’ve built a case against yourself, drop the charges. Get out of your inner courtroom drama. Believe in yourself as a whole, innocent, capable, and worthy creature. This is the only “law book” there is.
